How do I start my online application? |
| | When the applications open go to the Clinical Psychology Scholarship Page on the SARRAH Website and follow the links to the on-line application.
- Once you start the application you will receive an automatically generated “Do Not Reply” e-mail with your application code, user name and password – you need these details should you need to log back into your application. If you do not receive this email check your junk or spam mailboxes before you contact the Scholarship Administrator.

I cannot get back into my unfinished application form |
| | Check the application code, username and password correspond exactly with the “Do Not Reply” email. There is more than one scholarship open at the same time. Make sure you have logged into the correct application NAHSSS Allied Health Clinical Psychology Application Form. |

How do I know if my on line application has been submitted successfully? |
| | A confirmation “Do Not Reply” email is sent once the application is submitted. This email is your receipt that the application has been successfully submitted. If you think you have submitted the application and you do not receive an email check your junk or spam mailboxes before you contact the Scholarship Administrator. |

| | Check that all the sections down the left hand side are highlighted in Green. A section highlighted in Red indicates that something in that section is incomplete or a question in the section has been incorrectly completed. Some answers may require a number instead of text. |

What courses are eligible for the Clinical Psychology Scholarship? |
| | Postgraduate Clinical Psychology courses (Master/Doctoral) conducted by Universities in Australia are eligible. The course must be accredited by the Australian Psychology Accredited Council (APAC) and satisfy the Psychology Board of Australia area of practice endorsement.
It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure the nominated course will lead to endorsement as a clinical psychologist.

How much is the scholarship entitlement? |
| | The maximum scholarship entitlement is limited to $30,000 ($15,000 per annum) for two years of full-time equivalent study or 4 years of part-time study. The scholarship is not retrospective; scholars will not be paid for study already completed. For example; if you have already completed 50% of your study program at the time you received your scholarship, you will be entitled to 50% of the total scholarship award. |

Can I apply for the Postgraduate Scholarship as well? |
| | No - All courses that lead to endorsement as a clinical psychology are ineligible in the Postgraduate Scholarship. |

Can I upgrade my clinical masters to a doctorate or PhD? |
| | No- If you have completed your Clinical Masters , you are not eligible to apply for this scholarship as your Master of Clinical Psychology qualification satisfies the Australian Psychology Board academic requirements in the area of practice endorsement. |

Am I eligible to apply if I've already started my course? |
| | YES - You are eligible to apply for the scholarship, however, your scholarship entitlement will be calculated on the percentage of the study that you have to complete. |

My Masters is incomplete and I plan to upgrade to a doctoral degree |
| | YES- If your qualification, by the end of 2012 does not satisfy the Australian Psychology Board academic requirements in the area of practice endorsement. |

How long is the application period? |
| | Applications are ususally open for 6 weeks. Opening from early to mid August and closing from early to mid October. During this period applicants will be able to log back into their applications and make any changes. Applicants are not allowed to make any changes after the closing date. |

Can I obtain a hard copy of the application? |
| | NO- There is no hard copy version of the application form. Only online applications can be assessed. |

How is the application assessed? |
| | A panel of independent assessors representing; academia; past scholars, consumers; Culturally and Linguistically Diverse groups (CaLD); professional associations; Indigenous psychologists and rural and remote interests will assess the applications. Every application is assessed by three different assessors. |

When will I know the results of my application? |
| | All applicants will be notified by the second week of December. A second round of offers will be made towards the end of February and continue until all the scholarship places have been filled. |

Do I have to be a member of SARRAH to apply? |
| | No. |

Can I defer the scholarship if I dont get a place in the course? |
| | NO – Deferment only applies to scholars who are enrolled in an eligible course. Please contact the Scholarship Office if you did not gain a place in an eligible course so we can offer the scholarship to the next applicant. |

| | NO- Under the NAHSSS Guidelines there is not right of appeal by unsuccessful applicants. |

Can I get feedback if my application was not successful? |
| | The assessors will be asked to provide some general feedback, this will be posted on the Clincial Psychology page. The Scholarship Administrator does not have the resources to provide feedback individually to unsuccessful applicants. |

Is this scholarship taxable? |
| | The Scholarship Administrator does not provide tax advice. You will need to consult your accountant or Australian Tax Office regarding any tax issues. |

I currently receive centrelink payments. Will the scholarship affects these payments? |
| | Personal circumstances differ; successful applicants will need to contact Centrelink about the impact of the scholarship on their Centrelink payments. |

Can I have more than one Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing Scholarship? |
| | The NAHSSS Clinical Placement Scholarship is open to Clinical Psychology Scholars. Otherwise, it is against the Guidelines to have two Commonwealth, Department of Health and Aging funded scholarships at the same time. If you are a current scholar, you will need to wait at least 12 months from the date you last received a scholarship payment. |

How do I lodge a complaint? |
| | All complaints must be in writing to the Scholarship Administrator. Complainants will be acknowledged in writing within 14 days. |

How do I prove my rurality status? |
| | The Australian Standard Geographical Classification - Remoteness Structure (ASGC-RA) classification is used to define rurality. An ASGC-RA ranking of 2 and above is considered rural Doctor Connect has a search by ASGC-RA facility. There are three seperate rurality categories.
1. Currently residing and delivering a clinical service in an ASGC-RA 2 and above location. To claim rurality under this category the applicant must show they have delivered a continuous clinical service in a rural regional or remote area for the previous 12 months. A continuious clinical service means at least 10 hours per week of face to face client contact. Certified proof from the current employer is required. Self employed applicants are required to provide a Statutory Declaration of their continuous clinical service record for the previous 12 months.
2. The applicant undertook her or his primary or secondary schooling is an ASGC-RA2 and above location. A certified copy of one school report is required.
3. The applicant has lived for eight cumulative years in an ASGC-RA 2 and above location. Certified proof must show the applicant has resided in a rural remote area for 8 cumulative years. This documentation may include tax returns, rate notices, utility bills or electoral role statements. If the applicant was a minor for all or part of the eight years a statutory declaration from their local GP, lawyer or Post Master, accountant testifying that the applicant has lived in the area for 8 cumulative years is acceptable.
Rurality only applies to areas within Australia.

How do I prove my Cultural and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) Status? |
| | A person from a CaLD background meets one or more of the following criteria:
- Arrived in Australia as an immigrant or refugee from a non-English speaking country.
- Is a child of migrant parents (mother and father) both of whom are from a non-English speaking country.
Successful applicant must provide a certified copy of documentation in support of their CaLD status. This evidence must include certified copies of one of the following documents showing the applicant’s or their parent’s:
· International passport.
· Refugee visa.
· A letter of confirmation from the Chairperson or President of a cultural community group the applicant belongs to, that has the common seal from the organisation from which it was obtained.
Where the provided documents are in the parents’ names, the applicant’s birth certificate must also be provided identifying these individual as her or his parents. |

When do I submit the documents to support my application? |

If you are a successful applicant you will receive a letter of conditional offer by email, everything that you need to know about accepting the offer, including when to return the supporting documentation, is covered in the letter of conditional offer. |

Do I need to have secured candidature in an eligible course to apply |
| | No. As long as you have applied to undertake an eligible course you are permitted to submit an application for the NAHSSS Clinical Psychology Scholarship. Applicants will be notified by mid December the outocme of their application and have until mid February to accept or decline the scholarship offer. |

| | Check the spam/junk mail depending on your settings autoreply emails may end up in spam/junk.
The auto reply email is sent to the email address in the login details. There may be a typo in the details you entered.

How will the Scholarship be paid? |
| | Scholars can choose monthly or semester payments.
Payments are made on the first Tuesday of the month. Allow at least one working day for this to reach your account.
Monthly Payments
There will be 10 monthly payments be year, there will be no payments made in December or January; November and February will be double payments.
Semester Payments
There will be 2 semester payments per year in February and July. Where confirmation of enrolment is delayed the payment will be made on the next scheduled payment date. (1st Tuesday of the Month).
A current confirmation of enrolment in the next semester is required, to initiate payment for that semester. The Scholar will be contacted by email when the confirmation of enrolment is received with the date and amount of the next payment.
Full-Time & Part-Time
The Full-Time rate is $7,500 per semester.
The Part-Time rate is $3,750 per semester. |
