National SARRAH Conference
A conference for Rural and Remote Allied Health Professionals
Mission and Purpose
The National SARRAH Conference, the biennial conference for rural and remote allied health professionals, is the largest and most important single program for SARRAH. It is a key element of its core business and, in effect, it sets much of the agenda for SARRAH's work for each two year period.
The Conference includes members of the allied health workforce, service providers and service purchasers who can make a major contribution to the health of people in rural Australia. It also includes people who make a contribution to the education and training of the allied health workforce.
SARRAH also welcomes the inclusion of the users - the consumers from rural and remote communities.
The Conference has a key role in:
- Promoting continuing education and professional development activities essential to support allied health professional practice in rural and remote Australia.
- Promoting rural and remote allied health research by professionals who practice in these areas and the presentation of research findings.
- Promoting the development of supportive networks for allied health professionals working in rural and remote Australia.
- Enabling input and influence by rural and remote allied health professionals (the 'grass roots') into national and state health policy and service delivery. This is achieved by delegates to the conference informing and assisting in setting the agenda for SARRAH activity - including advocacy and strategic partnership development - through a recommendations process.
