Rod Wellington
Chief Executive Officer

Rod Wellington commenced working with SARRAH on 10th September 2007 as the Chief Executive Officer. 

Born in Numurkah, northern Victoria, Rod attended primary school and later attended secondary college in Shepparton. His family have a mixed sheep and grain farm in the Numurkah district. Since 1981, Rod has resided in Canberra. He is married with 3 daughters.
 
With almost 20 years experience in the Commonwealth public sector, holding various positions at senior management levels he is well experienced in dealing with Federal, State and Territory Governments, peak national industry associations and community groups.
 
Rod also has private sector experience working as Chairman for three years of an employment and training company.

Shelagh Lowe

Shelagh was born in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and lived with her parents in the USA and South Africa prior to emigrating to North Queensland at the end of 1971. Shelagh obtained her Physiotherapy qualifications from the Cumberland College of Health Scieneces, Sydney in 1980 and worked in Sydney for two years before moving to Tasmania at the begining of 1983. That ultimate of retention strategies happened and Shelagh married David, a Tasmanian from Fingal, a small rural community in the east of Tasmania.Shelagh continues to live in Fingal with her husband, dog and cat. She has two sons living in Launceston and her third son, the eldest, is in the RAAF.

Ruth Hawkings
Business Manager

Ruth was born in Perth, WA and moved extensively with her family, as her dad was in the Post Office, and lived in various rural communities, before arriving in Canberra in 1971.

Prior to commencing with SARRAH Ruth was most recently the Finance and Business Manager for the National Health and Hospitals Reform Commission, whose final report is due to Minister Roxon by 30 June.
 
Ruth also previously worked in the Administration/Business Services Section of the ACT Law Courts and Tribunals for 16 years before moving to the Finance Section of Old Parliament House & the National Portrait Gallery and then on to the Department of Health and Ageing.
 
Ruth is married with a son and granddaughter who take up most of her spare time. Her main interests outside work are involvement with a craft group, knitting, reading and strolling through antique shops. Ruth collects Indian dolls (currently 75 ...more

Deslie Rosevear
Program Officer for the RAHUS Scheme

Deslie was born in a small sawmilling town on the Dorrigo Plateau in NSW called Lowanna, and moved to Queanbeyan at the age of 12. After completing High School she worked at Coles Supermarket before marrying and spending several years moving around NSW and bringing up 2 daughters.

Before commencing with SARRAH, Deslie worked for a Canberra building company where she was the site administrator, previous to that she worked for a local family run timber and door company looking after their accounts and reception. Deslie also previously worked in the management office at the Canberra Centre, a large shopping centre in the heart of Canberra, as the office assistant.
 
Deslie has remarried and lives on 5 acres about 35 minutes outside of Canberra, and enjoys cooking, spending time with her daughters and grandson, and looks forward to traveling in the near future.

Jane Tishler
Program Officer for the ARRHPS Scheme

Jane has lived and worked in remote Australia since 2001 undertaking a range of projects concerned with improving the delivery and quality of health services. Her last project before returning to Canberra was the ENT surgical follow up for Aboriginal children living in remote communities in Central Australia and the Town Camps of Alice Springs. She worked with audiologists, ENT surgeons, Aboriginal Health Workers and nurses to provide ENT follow up for all the children referred during phase one of the Emergency Intervention in the NT. This project highlighted the effectiveness of multidisciplinary teams and the need to up-skill across the local workforce to deal effectively with ear disease among Aboriginal children in Central Australia.

Kirsten Lewis
Program Assistant for the RAHUS Scheme

Kirsten grew up in Braidwood NSW. After completing a Bachelor of Business in Tourism at what is now Southern Cross University in Lismore, Kirsten moved around the state for the next few years working in hotels including Novotel Darling Harbour, Nikko Darling Harbour and the NSW ski fields where she met her husband. Kirsten and her husband then spent several more years in the ski fields before moving on to running motels and restaurants in Sydney and on the NSW south coast.

Kirsten joined SARRAH at the end of July 2008 as Administration Assistant.
 
Before joining SARRAH, Kirsten had been working as a full-time mum to 2 very active young children, a part-time Pre-School Assistant and building up her own home based business.
Kirsten enjoys camping, travelling, watching her children play sport , spending time with family & friends and is an avid reader.

Ann Short
Progarm Assistant for ARRHPSS

Ann was born in Queanbeyan NSW, has lived in Sydney and Young and returned home to Queanbeyan some 12 years ago with her husband to raise their two boys. Ann joined SARRAH in August 2008.

Before working at SARRAH, Ann worked for the National Rural Health Alliance as an Administrative Assistant. There she worked on the Friends Membership and various other projects. Ann also assisted with the NRHA Conference in Albury 2007.
 
Prior to this Ann worked for Engineers Australia in the Conference Department, then moved on to the Membership Department to administer Student and Graduate memberships. Ann’s job was relocated to the Sydney Division to work for the Graduate Membership program.
 
Upon returning home to Queanbeyan, Ann spent time off raising her two boys and worked part-time in a dental surgery as a receptionist. Ann enjoys taking long bush walks with her dog, enjoys raising her two very active boys, nieces ...more
